Did Apollo 11 Encounter Reptilian Beings on the Moon?

A Startling Claim Returns
A recent report from Alien UFO Sightings has revived one of the more extraordinary stories connected to the Apollo 11 Moon landing.
The report centers on William “Bill” Tompkins, an author and former aerospace worker who claimed the Moon was already occupied when Apollo 11 arrived in July 1969. According to Tompkins, Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin encountered nine-foot-tall reptilian beings standing near advanced hovering craft along the rim of a crater. Tompkins described the creatures as scaly, alligator-like beings sometimes called Dracos. He further claimed that these entities could disguise themselves as humans and belonged to one of several extraterrestrial factions secretly influencing events on Earth.
It is a remarkable tale—one that turns mankind’s greatest voyage of exploration into something resembling a warning from another world.
The Man Behind the Story
Tompkins published his account in the book Selected by Extraterrestrials: My Life in the Top Secret World of UFOs, Think Tanks and Nordic Secretaries.
He said the United States Navy noticed him as a young man because of the remarkable detail in his handmade ship models. Tompkins later claimed that he worked on classified aerospace projects and gained knowledge of secret space programs, extraterrestrial alliances and a hidden conflict involving reptilian and human-looking alien groups. The recent Substack report states that Tompkins worked with North American Aviation, Northrop and Douglas Aircraft. However, the account does not provide documents, recordings or testimony from Apollo personnel confirming his story. (Alien UFO Sightings)
Most importantly, the reptilian encounter did not come directly from Armstrong or Aldrin. It came from Tompkins’ later telling of what he believed occurred behind the scenes.
What the Apollo Record Shows
NASA maintains an extensive technical transcript of Apollo 11’s communications. The document identifies Armstrong as commander, Aldrin as lunar module pilot and Michael Collins as command module pilot. The publicly available transcript contains no verified statement from Armstrong or Aldrin describing reptilian creatures, hovering ships or alien guards stationed around a crater.
Apollo 11 certainly encountered tense moments. Armstrong manually guided the lunar module away from a dangerous landing area while fuel ran dangerously low. The astronauts also described craters, rocks, shadows and unusual terrain while exploring the surface. None of those recorded observations confirms Tompkins’ extraordinary account.
Claims of a secret transmission in which Armstrong supposedly announced that alien spacecraft were watching the astronauts have circulated for decades. To date, no authenticated recording or original mission document containing such a conversation has surfaced. Could Part of the Conversation Have Been Hidden?
Believers argue that NASA could have used a private medical or communications channel unavailable to the public. They also point to occasional gaps, garbled words and interruptions within the surviving transmissions.

However, an unreadable section is not proof of an extraterrestrial encounter. Without a recording, mission log, photograph or corroborating witness, the reptilian story remains an allegation rather than established history.
Why the Mystery Refuses to Die
Apollo 11 carried three men farther from Earth than nearly anyone had imagined possible. It placed Armstrong and Aldrin on a silent, unfamiliar world while millions watched through a flickering television signal.
That setting provides fertile ground for suspicion. What might the astronauts have seen beyond the camera’s narrow view? What conversations took place when the public feed went quiet? Could officials have concealed a discovery considered too dangerous for the world to hear?
Tompkins offered dramatic answers to those questions. Yet dramatic answers require equally dramatic evidence—and that evidence has never entered the public record.
