Ten Days at Skinwalker Ranch

A newly declassified report details ten unsettling days at Skinwalker Ranch involving unknown animals, reacting dogs, a possible apparition, a mysteriously opened gas burner, failing equipment, and a luminous object above the property.

Ten Days at Skinwalker Ranch: The Declassified Log Reads Like a Horror Movie

A newly declassified government file does more than repeat the legends surrounding Skinwalker Ranch. Buried inside it is a dated record of incidents reported by personnel at the Utah property—and one ten-day stretch in October 2010 reads like the outline of a horror movie.

The activity began on October 19 at Homestead 2, a focal point for many of the ranch’s stories. According to the log, two men identified as Lewis and Edwards attempted to address whatever presence might have been inside the building.

Edwards reported sensing something in an adjoining room. All three dogs with the men reacted toward the doorway, and photographs taken during the incident reportedly included what the file described as a possible human manifestation. Both men experienced chills.

Three nights later, the mystery moved outside.

On October 22, Edwards and another man identified as Conner watched their dogs race into a pasture while barking. Using flashlights and night-vision equipment, the men reported seeing three canine-like animals: two of ordinary size and a third described as unusually large and black.

The animals disappeared rapidly into the trees, but the men’s dogs reportedly remained disturbed afterward.

On October 24, Edwards and Conner returned from shopping and smelled natural gas inside their living quarters. They found a rear stove burner turned halfway on without a flame. Both men said neither of them had used the stove before leaving.

The following night, while washing dishes, they reportedly heard the back door open and slam shut. Both described chills and the sensation of a presence passing through them.

Then came the most dramatic encounter.

On October 27, the ranch dogs became unusually clingy and alert. The men heard a low growl followed by an animalistic howl. Edwards and Conner then reported seeing a dark animal, approximately the size of a donkey, leap from the shrubs into the pasture.

They later detected a strong wet-dog odor and spent the evening feeling watched, although they could not locate its source.

Two nights later, a fully charged camera battery reportedly dropped to nearly empty after only a few photographs at Homestead 2. At the same time, one of the dogs barked and scratched at a wall. As the men left, Conner again reported smelling wet dog, although his companion did not.

The sequence ended on Halloween night. Conner and Schultz reported a bright flash overhead, followed by a large luminous object moving toward the north-northwest. The object left a glowing trail visible for approximately fifteen seconds before disappearing behind the mesa. A sound resembling a sonic boom was also reported.

None of these entries proves that anything supernatural occurred. The file contains witness accounts, not independently verified explanations. Another piece of suspected “skinwalker” evidence—a clump of hair—was tested and identified as raccoon hair.

Still, the report is more than a collection of vague legends. It preserves specific names, dates, locations, animal reactions, equipment failures, and observations recorded during a concentrated period at the ranch.

Whether those ten days represent paranormal activity, misidentification, fear feeding upon itself, or something still unexplained, the government file leaves one haunting fact behind:

The people stationed at Skinwalker Ranch believed they were not there alone.
