Newly released government thermal footage shows two unidentified objects recorded by a U.S. government special agent during a 2026 incident in the western United States.

First came the radio signal.

Then someone pointed a thermal-imaging device toward the distant mountains—and found two unidentified objects moving together across the sky.

The peculiar encounter occurred somewhere in the western United States during 2026. Much of the location and identifying information remains hidden beneath government redactions, but the FBI record and a short piece of thermal footage were released to the public on August 7.

A Signal in the Sky

According to the FBI report, the observer was alerted to a brief radio-frequency detection reportedly occurring at approximately 10,000 feet above mean sea level. The detection lasted between five and ten seconds, although its precise source and bearing were unknown.

A request was then made to observe the sky at a bearing of 58 degrees.

Within minutes, a thermal optical device was aimed in that direction. Above the mountain line, the observer noticed a dark object moving slowly through the sky.

Then a second object appeared beside it.

Moving Together

The two objects reportedly traveled together at the same apparent speed. Both appeared as dark—or “black-hot”—areas of contrast on the thermal display.

The observer photographed and recorded the objects as they moved toward the southeast. The sighting continued for approximately five to ten minutes before the objects traveled out of view.

Their altitude, distance and speed could not be determined.

That uncertainty is important. Without reliable distance information, even sophisticated thermal imagery cannot tell investigators how large or how fast an object may be. Birds, balloons, aircraft and distant drones must all remain possible explanations.

But none of those possibilities has been publicly confirmed.

The government released only ten seconds of footage from the encounter. It shows two slow-moving areas of contrast visible through a handheld thermal-imaging device.

The clip is hardly a Hollywood flying-saucer film. There are no impossible turns, bursts of tremendous speed or gleaming metallic discs. What makes it interesting is its origin: the footage was recorded by a U.S. government special agent and accompanied by an official FBI interview report.

An Answer Still Missing

The available evidence does not prove that the objects were extraterrestrial spacecraft. It also does not provide enough information to confidently identify them as anything ordinary.

What triggered the original radio-frequency detection? Were the two objects connected to it? Why were they traveling together, and what exactly crossed that western sky?

The government has released the footage.

The answer remains somewhere in the darkness.
