A Colorado witness recorded a silent, shape-changing UFO that appeared partly transparent before abruptly disappearing

A strange object appeared over Lakewood, Colorado, on the evening of September 8—and approximately 30 seconds later, it was gone.

According to a report submitted to the National UFO Reporting Center, the sighting began at approximately 7:05 p.m. while the witness was sitting outside watching the clouds. A bright object suddenly appeared toward the south, seemingly settling into view before moving north across the sky.

Silver, Silent and Difficult to Define

The witness described the object as silver or metallic, although parts of it occasionally appeared transparent. At other moments, it resembled a bright light rather than a solid aircraft.

Its shape also seemed to change.

The object reportedly traveled smoothly but at varying speeds. It did not zigzag or make any sudden turns, and the witness heard no engine, propeller or other mechanical sound.

Then, after approximately half a minute, it vanished.

The witness said the object did not disappear behind a cloud or gradually fade into the distance. From their perspective, it simply ceased to be visible.

Something Strange Over Lakewood

Lakewood sits immediately west of Denver, placing the reported sighting above one of Colorado’s busiest metropolitan areas. The witness was facing east, with the object moving north—an important detail when considering ordinary possibilities such as aircraft, drones or balloons.

The estimated size was described as larger than a commercial aircraft, although judging an unknown object’s true size without a reliable distance is extremely difficult. A smaller object nearby can appear larger than something traveling much farther away.

No second witness has been identified, and the available footage alone cannot establish the object’s altitude, distance or speed. Those limitations leave several conventional explanations on the table.

The Silence Before the Sighting

One detail gives the report an especially eerie quality.

Before the object appeared, the witness noticed that the surrounding birds and animals had become unusually quiet. Whether that stillness had anything to do with the sighting is impossible to determine, but the witness considered it unusual enough to include in the official report.

Was the object an unusual balloon catching the evening light? A drone viewed from a deceptive angle? An aircraft partially obscured by clouds?

Or did something genuinely unidentified pass silently over the Denver skyline before disappearing from view?

Watch the footage and decide for yourself.

You be the judge.
